Next Steps for Transfer Students
Access your UNCW Applicant Portal to review your enrollment checklist and upcoming deadlines. Your UNCW ID, email, and login information can also be found in your UNCW Applicant Portal. Our team is here to help! If you have any questions about your next steps, please contact your transfer counselor.
Set Up Your UNCW Account- Log in to your UNCW account for the first time using the instructions here.
- Prior to logging in to your UNCW account, you will need to set up Two Factor Authentication.
- Begin checking your UNCW email regularly - important communications from other UNCW offices will be sent to your UNCW email.
- Your degree audit is your official transfer credit evaluation and provides information on completed and outstanding requirements necessary to complete your degree at UNCW. You will receive an email notification when your degree audit is ready to view.
- If you are currently enrolled in courses, be sure to submit your final transcript after your semester ends. Current courses will be removed from your Degree Audit if a final transcript is not received.
- Your enrollment deposit will be applied directly to your student billing account and serves as your official acceptance of UNCW's offer of admission.
- Enrollment deposits are deferred automatically for active-duty or Veteran service members. If you are a Phi Theta Kappa student or have documented financial need, you may qualify for an enrollment deposit deferral. Please contact admissions@uncw.edu for more information.
- Please note, the enrollment deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable.
- All new main campus transfer students are required to complete transfer orientation prior to meeting with an academic advisor and registering for classes. Students cannot register for orientation until their enrollment deposit is received. Please check your admissions status portal for specific registration information.
- Distance Education (Extension) and Online Accelerated Program students should register for the online orientation.
- After completing your required orientation, you will receive more information about course registration from your academic college advising office. Be sure to monitor your UNCW email regularly.
- Within MySeaport, students can access their UNCW e-mail, calendar, and read about campus news and events. If you have trouble logging in or using the tools in MySeaport, contact the Technology Assistance Center (TAC). Remember to check your UNCW email often as that is how other offices will contact you.
- Confirm your residency status is accurate on your Student Profile in MySeaport.
- If needed, update your residency status with the NC Residency Determination Service.
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is required to be considered for federal, state, and institutional grants, federal work study, and federal loans.
- Complete the University Scholarship Application by the priority deadline of March 1 (if entering in the summer or fall terms). Students must be admitted in order to access the University Scholarship Application.
- On-campus housing for new transfer students is very limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The on-campus housing queue for Fall 2026 will open in late February 2026.
- Most UNCW transfer students thrive in off-campus housing, which offers flexibility, independence, and access to a wide range of amenities. There are plenty of options to suit different lifestyles and budgets. We encourage all transfer students to explore off-campus housing resources as part of their transition to UNCW. UNCW has a dedicated team in the Office of the Dean of Students to help you navigate the process of locating suitable off-campus housing for students. The Off-Campus Student Services team provides services, resources, and support for UNCW students living off campus.
- Parking on campus requires a permit or payment of ParkMobile parking fees 24/7. Parking and transportation services offers several permit and payment options so that you can select a permit that meets your needs and budget. Parking permits can be purchased through MySeaport by selecting the 'Students tab' (at top of page) and the 'Register for Student Parking' link.
Proof of Immunizations
- Students should complete and sign the entire Medical History Form and Immunization Record located in the student health portal.
- Note that not all your records may be in one place or from one source. Be sure to review what you are submitting to make sure all requirements are met. You may review North Carolina's immunization requirements on the Immunization Branch's website.
- Immunizations are due 30 days from the first day of class or your classes will be dropped.
- Health insurance is required for all UNCW students. This may be insurance that students currently have (family, employer, etc.), insurance they purchase through the school, or a combination of both plans. All students must complete the Enrollment or Waiver process each semester.
- UNCW's Electronic Billing (E-bill) system is the official means of generating bills to students. UNCW does not mail paper bills to student's permanent home address.
- Any student with a balance will be contacted via their UNCW email account when a statement is issued. It is the student's responsibility to check their UNCW email on a regular basis to prevent any problems with their account.
- Learn more about navigating your Student Account in E-bill here.
- Explore opportunities for getting involved through the UNCW Campus Activities & Involvement Center (CAIC). CAIC is the student gateway to entertainment, involvement, and leadership on campus and provides opportunities for students to participate actively and grow personally through a variety of experiences.
- Check out the Transfer Connect Program - a program designed to help you develop connections and build a support system at UNCW! You will be placed in small groups of 5-6 students with similar values and interests to promote connection through the semester.
- Explore transfer specific events on Wavelink, like our Transfer Social and Transfer Float events.
As a transfer student, you have the option to update your application for up to two consecutive semesters. Updating means that you do not need to reapply or pay the application fee again, but we will re-review your application for your future term. Additional transcripts may be requested if applicable.
Please note that enrollment deposits and orientation fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. To request an update to your application term, please use the Update Form in your UNCW Applicant Portal.
If you are not planning to attend UNCW, please withdraw your application. You may do so by completing the Withdraw form within your UNCW Applicant Portal. Completion of this form withdraws your application from the university, rescinding any offer of admission as well.
