Important Dates

Student parking permits
Date 2024-25 Parking Permits
April 1, 2024 Online registration for student parking permits begins.

Students should register for classes before registering for a parking permit.

Virtual permits are assigned on a "first-come, first-served" basis based upon the time of registration, with no advantage by class standing (i.e. Senior, Junior, Sophomore, Freshman).
June 3 - July 5 Incoming Resident Freshmen may complete step 1 of the parking permit registration process. Step 2 will be completed after receiving their housing assignment. An email will be sent to notify students to complete step 2 and their permit purchase after July 6.
August 23, 2024 Parking Enforcement will begin writing citations for vehicles that do not have an active virtual permit linked to their vehicle's license plate number.
December 2024 Permit billing to Spring term begins. This is an opportunity for permits to be billed to the spring term for:
  • New incoming Spring term students
  • Students who do not currently have a permit and now need a permit for the Spring semester
Your permit will be prorated based on the month of purchase. If you do not need a permit in December, you can wait to purchase in January, but permits are awarded based on availability. Students must register for classes before they can register for a parking permit.  PLEASE NOTE: If you purchased a permit in the fall semester (for the academic year) you do not need to purchase new permit for Spring.

If you are unable to use the online system, please contact Parking & Transportation Services at parking@uncw.edu or phone 910.962.3178.

Virtual Parking Permits are assigned to your license plate, meaning there is no physical permit to pick up or place on your vehicle!

Because your parking permit is associated with your license plate, you must park with your license plate facing the drive lane (cannot back in or pull through a parking space).

  • If you wish to pull through or back into a parking space you must have a vanity license plate affixed to the front bumper of your vehicle to comply with the license plate recognition technology. Vanity plates are not permits to park; they supplement your valid parking permit to allow you to pull through / back in. (If your vehicle is licensed in a two-plate state, and you already have a state-issued license plate on the front of your vehicle, a vanity plate is not needed.)
  • Vanity Plates: Can be purchased through the parking portal.

  • NO: Students with a Fall-Spring parking permit, which is valid through August 15, (excluding night/weekend permits) do not need to purchase a summer parking permit.
  • YES: If you do not have a current permit, you must purchase a Summer only permit if you plan to park on campus in the summer. Students that have a Fall-Spring Night/Weekend permit will need to purchase a summer parking permit.

More Information on Summer Permits:

  • You must be registered for summer classes before registering for a summer parking permit.
  • The permit cost of $70 (covers both summer sessions) will be charged to your Student Account/e-bill
  • As the summer passes, students may opt to purchase weekly parking passes at a cost of $20 per week rather than purchasing the $70 permit. Persons sub-leasing at the resident halls (Seahawk Landing, Village, and Crossing) may also purchase the $20 weekly parking passes in our office.

Faculty/Staff Permits

Faculty & Staff Parking Registration

Faculty and Staff parking permit registration for the 2023-24 academic year opens June 12. 2022-23 academic year permits are valid August 1 – July 31.

  • Parking PortalParking Registration will occur within the new parking portal. Faculty and staff may purchase permits, pay/appeal citations, update vehicle information, and fully manage their parking account online.

Annual permit prices are based on salary ranges and can be paid in full at the time of purchase, or on a monthly payroll deduction. Please see parking permits for more information.

  • In an effort to move to a 10-month versus a 12-month permit pay period, June and July will not be charged on payroll deduction and you will not be charged those months if you choose to purchase your annual permit upfront, resulting in an overall lower annual permit price than the current rate.
  • The total cost of your permit will not exceed the current rate over the next four years, through 2024-25. During this time, the permit price will be incrementally increased until the original cost of the permit is received, and you will be saving on your total annual permit cost.
  1. Login to MySeaport, select the 'Employee Essentials' tab (at the top of the page), then select the Parking Portal link (under Services & Links section on the left).
  2. In the Parking Portal select 'Permits,' then select 'Get Permits' and follow the step-by-step instructions within the portal to complete your parking permit purchase.
  3. Once completed you will see a Permit Registration Receipt and will receive an email that you successfully registered for a permit.
PLEASE NOTE –While in the portal please update your current vehicle information to ensure that your new permit is associated with your current license plate(s). To add/edit vehicles, select “Vehicles” within the parking portal:

  • To add a vehicle to your active permit: Select “Permits" and "View Your Permits" then select the active permit that you would like to add your new vehicle to then follow the step-by-step instructions within the portal to complete. You must link your new vehicle to your active permit.
  • To edit/delete a vehicle description: Select the license plate of the vehicle description you wish to edit/delete.
  • Accessible placards or license plates: Parking will contact you directly if your NC Disability Placard needs to be verified.
  • Motorcycle Permit: You will need to add your motorcycle license plate and vehicle information to your virtual permit.
  • Reserved Parking Space: Parking and Transportation will contact you directly to handle your renewal.
  • Part-time faculty and SPA temporary staff are not eligible for payroll deduction. Payment is required at the time of online purchase via credit card, or by cash/check in the Parking Office.
  • Carpooling: Faculty and staff interested in the carpool program need to come to Parking and Transportation Services to register for a carpool parking permit. To qualify for reduced rates for carpooling, a minimum of two (2) persons who have registered vehicles on campus must submit a Carpool Registration Form
As the start of the academic year approaches, we encourage faculty and staff to evaluate their parking needs. We want to emphasize that an annual parking permit allows the convenience and flexibility to come to campus as needed and park in ANY faculty/staff lot.

However, we recognize the varying needs and circumstances of faculty and staff and provide flexibility for a variety of parking needs. If you choose not to purchase an annual permit, we offer several alternate parking options below:

  • Hourly Parking: At any ParkMobile location, $2.00/hour, (Visa, MasterCard, and American Express) see ParkMobile locations for more information.
  • Day Permit: $5.00/day, available in the parking portal.
  • Weekly Permit: $20.00/week, available in the parking portal.
