Register for Orientation
All students are required to complete the orientation process, which includes online modules and an in-person program. Students unable to attend any in-person events due to active duty status can request an exemption.
Pay Orientation Fee or Request Deferral
Active duty and Veteran service members can request an orientation fee deferral, which applies the fee to their first semester bill. Students are encouraged to submit the deferral request prior to registering for orientation.
Complete Orientation & Advising Modules
Students are required to complete online orientation and advising modules prior to registering for classes.
Register for Classes
After you meet with your advisor and receive your pin you should register as early as possible to minimize delays with your benefits. Remember in order to be certified for VA benefits, all courses you take must meet one of your degree requirements. Do not wait as delays can affect you receiving benefits and may result in a decrease in course evaluations.
Secure Housing
To support students in their search for off-campus housing, UNCW offers an official housing search website powered by Apartments.com. This platform allows students to browse property listings, connect directly with local housing providers, and search for potential roommates — all in one place. Log in using your UNCW credentials to gain full access to the website.
Disability Resource Center (if applicable)
The Office of Military Affairs encourages students to register and establish accommodations with the Disability Resource Center prior to the start of courses.
Show proof of immunizations
Students should complete and sign the entire Medical History Form and Immunization Record located in the student health portal.
Note that not all your records may be in one place or from one source. Be sure to review what you are submitting to make sure all requirements are met. You may review North Carolina’s immunization requirements on the Immunization Branch’s website.
Immunizations are due 30 days from the first day of class or your classes will be dropped.
Proof of Insurance
Health Insurance is required for all UNCW students. This may be insurance that students currently have (family, employer, etc.), insurance they purchase through the school, or a combination of both plans.
Note: All students must complete the Enrollment or Waiver Process each semester.
Military students who are covered by Tricare or Champ VA can waive out of the school’s insurance.
Military students who have military benefits can also enroll in the school’s insurance, and it may cover the cost. Please check with a school certifying officer in the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to see which program covers the full cost of insurance.
