Transfer Students
If you are considering transferring to UNCW, here is what you need to know.
Who Is a Transfer Student?
You will apply to UNCW as a transfer student if you:
- Have graduated from high school
- Have completed the General Educational Development (GED) test
- Have an Adult High School diploma
- Are attending, or have previously attended, either a two- or four-year college/university after graduation
- Have served in the military
If you have not yet graduated from high school you will apply as a first-year student, even if you have attended a two- or four-year college as a dual-enrolled student.
If you have not yet graduated from high school but are enrolled in a North Carolina Cooperative Innovative High School, you may have the option to apply as a transfer student. See our Admissions Requirements for Transfer Students for further details.
Transfer Coursework
If you’re considering transferring to UNCW and want to know which courses may transfer, please see the UNCW Transfer Credit Information to monitor your current academic progress.
Once you’re accepted to UNCW, the Office of the Registrar will make final determinations on what coursework will transfer in and fill certain requirements. After this determination and once you are assigned an SSC advisor, please discuss any discrepancies with your assigned academic advisor after orientation.
Admission to the Watson College of Education
Students begin with the SSC as a pre-major. To become a full major, transfer students must complete nine (9) credit hours at UNCW and meet the other admissions requirements to apply.
