Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, Literacy and Special Education (EEMLS)
Our community of professional educators prepares teachers to work with children from early childhood through middle grades, students with special needs, and their families. We also oversee programs in art education and early childhood policy and advocacy. Our programs integrate theory, research and expertise from multiple disciplines and perspectives to inform practices that enable all learners to reach their full potential.

Instructional Technology, Foundations and Secondary Education (ITFSE)
Our programs prepare future high school teachers, K-12 educators in specialty fields and instructional technology professionals who work in a variety of industries. Interdisciplinary programs in Esports and online teaching are also offered.
Faculty in our secondary education program partner with the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) on education programs with a concentration in mathematics and science; the College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts (CHSSA) on teacher licensure programs in English, social sciences, world languages and music; and with the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) on teacher licensure programs in physical education/health. Similarly, faculty in our instructional technology programs have strong ties with faculty in UNCW’s computer science and communication studies programs. Each allied department has a role in providing content-related courses and program guidance.
