We explore domestically, too.
A typical year will find us taking a bus to Washington, D.C. over fall break to explore the nation's capital, and then to the mountains surrounding Asheville, NC for spring break to relax, recharge, and explore the culturally rich city and surrounding towns.
Cultural Events
Honors scholars are encouraged to participate in cultural events at UNCW and in the Wilmington community.
As an Honors student, you will have free tickets for cultural events on campus and in the Wilmington area – anything from concerts to dance festivals to improv troupes.
We also encourage volunteerism and provide several opportunities every semester where Honors students can volunteer together.
Here are some tickets we've purchased and excursions we've put together:
- Little Shop of Horrors at Thalian Hall
- The Wilmington Jewish Film Festival
- David Sedaris (author)
- The Second City (comedy)
- Ailey II (dance)
- Ballet Folclórico Nacional de México de Silvia Lozano (dance)
- UNCW Theatre productions
- Jazzmeia Horn (music)
- Cameron Art Museum
- Fort Fisher Aquarium
- Habitat for Humanity (volunteering)
