Connection
Connection is an important part of the Honors College experience. Because of this, all Honors courses will be capped at 20 students, allowing for deeper engagement with the material, better faculty-student connections, and access to seminar-style learning.
Mentorship
Not all your courses will be honors courses because it's essential for you to connect with students and faculty all over campus.
The classes you will take with fellow Honors Scholars, spanning all years of the collegiate journey, will be based on seminar-style learning, meant to grow your curiosity and personal development. Being in courses with students across levels also promotes mentor relationships growing between upperclassmen in Honors and first-years.
In your first semester, you will also be assigned an Honors Mentor to help you succeed in your HON 110: Introduction to College seminar and beyond. These Mentors are a group of hand-selected upperclassmen who are engaged with Honors and act as benefits to the UNCW community.

Access
Honors students receive priority registration. For example, an Honors first-year student will have a class registration time earlier than a non-Honors senior.
Priority registration is about more than avoiding 8 a.m. classes. It makes it easier to take classes with the professors you love, to get into that course you want to take just for fun or to work out your schedule so that you can double-major without taking extra time in school.
Honors also helps provide access to research earlier in our student's careers through our support of the FYRE program, research prep classes (HON 191 and 399), and our Honors Thesis (HON 499).
