It's true that the UNCW Honors College has a coursework and GPA requirement, but we believe the honors experience is so much more than grades or book smarts. The one thing we want for all our students is meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that connect many different fields of study.

Savannah Miller's Honors College Story

Savannah Miller, a public health student in the UNCW Class of 2020, followed her curiosity and love of exploration with her research as a NOAA Holling Scholar! Savannah studied the biological accumulation of toxins in critical food resources (shellfish) for Native peoples in Alaska. 

Savannah went on to the Emory University master's program in Public Health,  hoping to continue to medical school. 

The Honors College welcomes students of all disciplines--from creative writing to history to marine biology to business--and promotes interdisciplinarity and curiosity across all majors. Transferable skill-building is at the heart of our mission. 

We believe in our students' capacity to bring their backgrounds from all fields of study to explore the world, tackle complex problems, create art, and otherwise transform learning into action and meaning. It's your story –we're here to help you write it.
