Schedule Restrictions

Schedule restrictions are the recommended way of limiting who can enroll in a section. If seats are being reserved, then schedule restrictions are unnecessary.

1. Access the Course Section Restrictions form (SSARRES) from SSASECT under the Options menu.
2. Perform a Next Block to illuminate tabs on SSARRES.
3. Use the Department Restrictions tab to either include or exclude a Department from registering for a section. You must know the appropriate department code or click the search icon to see a list of codes.
4. Perform a Next Block to the Field of Study Restrictions section. Majors, minors, or concentrations can be included by selecting them under the Type drop down menu.
5. Click the check box by the All Field of Study Types text if all field of study types are acceptable for this restriction.
6. Enter the appropriate major, minor, or concentration codes in the Codes section.
7. Click the search icon to see a list of codes.
8. Perform a SAVE/COMMIT (F10).
9. Perform a Next Block or click the tab for Class and Level.
10. The Class Restrictions window is next. Here restrictions based on student classification can be included or excluded for registration of the section.
11. Perform a SAVE/COMMIT (F10).
12. Next Block to the Level Restrictions window.
13. Restriction based on student level (UG – undergraduate students or GR – graduate students) can be included or excluded for registration of the section.
14. Perform a SAVE/COMMIT (F10).
15. Perform a Next Block or click the Degree and Program tab.
16. Degree Restrictions is the next window. This window allows restrictions based on degree to be included or excluded on a section for registration.
17. Perform a SAVE/COMMIT (F10).
18. Perform a Next Block to the Program Restrictions window.
    • This window allows restrictions based on program to be included or excluded from the registration of the section.
    • Currently UNCW only has one program established in Banner (UCLC).
19. Perform a SAVE/COMMIT (F10).
20. Perform a Next Block or click the Campus and College tab.
21. Campus Restrictions is the next window.
    • This window allows restrictions by Campus to be included or excluded for registration of the section.
    • At UNCW, we do not code students by campus since this functionality does not work with DARS (Degree Audit System).
22. Perform a Next Block to the College Restrictions window. This window allows restrictions by College to be included or excluded for registration of the section.
23. Perform a SAVE/COMMIT (F10).
24. Perform a Next Block or click the Student Attribute and Cohort tab.
25. Student Attribute Restrictions is the next window. This window allows restrictions by Student Attribute (like Honors, Athletes, etc.) to be included or excluded for registration of the section.
26. Perform a SAVE/COMMIT (F10).
27. Perform a Next Block to the Cohort Restrictions window. This window allows restrictions by cohort to be included or excluded for registration of the section.
28. Perform a SAVE/COMMIT (F10).
