Linked courses are to be used for lectures and labs when the lab has been assigned zero credit hours.
- Place the cursor in the Link Identifier field when logged into SSASECT.
- The link identifier should be LC if the section is a lecture.
- The link identifier should be LB if the section is a lab.
- All labs that correspond with this section will have the same course number.
- Section number and Schedule Type will be different.
- Enter LC in the Link Identifier field.
- Perform a save/commit (F10) after entering the link identifier on the lecture.
- Access Course Section Detail (SSADETL) form from the Options menu.
- Next Block.
- Remember the key block information from the last section will follow you to the next form.
- The course number for the lecture should now be in the key block on SSADETL.
- Enter the block and a LB in the Section Links Link Connector field. This links the lab to the lecture.
- Perform a save/commit (F10).
- It may be helpful to write down the CRN for later use.
- Return to the SSASECT and enter the Course Reference Number for the lab.
- Now enter LB in the Link Identifier field.
- Perform a save/commit (F10).
- Access the SSADETL form from the Options menu; Next Block.
- Enter a LC in the Section Links Link Connector field. This links the lab to the lecture.
- Perform a save/commit (F10).
The LB/LC section link codes cannot be used if you plan to link specific CRNs together. LB/LC allows students to choose a combination that fits their schedule.
The Registrar’s Office should be consulted if you wish to connect specific CRNs. Remove all LB/LC connections for the respective courses prior to contacting the Registrar’s Office.
Education often connects based on CRN, not link codes.
