Combined Minimum Score - 468.

  • NOTE: If taking all three sections of the Praxis Core, you must make a minimum combined score of 468, regardless of individual test scores.

An examinee may take each exam of the Praxis Core once every 35 consecutive days. This is for each subject area and is not cumulative between exams.  Students are encouraged to check with their WCE SSC Advisor about their super-combined scoring before registering for a retake exam.

Watson College of Education will retain your Praxis scores for ten (10) years from the score reporting date. After ten years, your scores will no longer be available. When you take a test through Educational Testing Services (ETS), you will receive an email when your scores have been posted. We recommend saving a copy of your score report for future reference.

All students should take and pass the Praxis Core immediately upon enrolling in your first courses in Watson, unless exempt because of standardized test scores.

  • Students must be admitted prior to the semester of their internship.
  • The last date to submit applicant material for internships is January 3rd for the spring semester and August 1st for the fall semester. Scores take approximately 4-6 weeks to process.
  • Praxis scores are sent from ETS to UNCW's Registrar's office. Students must list UNCW as a test score recipient using the code 5907 during registration.
  • As an option, students may register to take the test in UNCW’s DePaolo Hall using the RA 5907 code.
  • Students who did not identify UNCW as a score recipient must contact ETS and request official scores to be sent.
  • Students can show proof of their SAT or ACT as evidence of a potential waiver, but we do not accept unofficial transcripts. Only official score reports can satisfy the requirement.

Administered year-round, the Praxis tests are computer delivered in thousands of test centers throughout the country. Registration is completed through ETS, regardless of your chosen testing location. If applicable, here are some of the accommodations available for test takers with disabilities or health-related needs. Enrolled UNCW students may receive additional guidance from the university’s Disability Resource Center.
