Beta Alpha Psi is an honor organization for financial information students and professionals, and encompasses the disciplines of accounting, finance, information systems, and data analytics.

UNCW’s Iota Alpha Chapter was established in 1997. We are not a fraternity or sorority but an honors organization that hosts professional meetings, networking events, socials, service events and also competes in regional and national competitions.

Mission

The mission of Beta Alpha Psi, the premier international honor and service organization for financial and business information students and professionals, is to inspire and support excellence by:

  • encouraging the study and practice of accountancy, finance, business analytics or digital technology;
  • providing opportunities for service, professional development, and interaction among members and financial professionals; and
  • fostering lifelong ethical, social, and public responsibilities.

Membership

Becoming a member of Beta Alpha Psi carries with it lifelong benefits and is widely regarded as one of the highest honors a student can achieve so any students qualifying for this honor are strongly encouraged to pursue membership.  

To become a member of Beta Alpha Psi, one must:

  • Declare a concentration in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics or Information Systems
  • Complete at least one upper level accounting, finance, or information systems core course. (300 level or higher) **
  • Attain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) in your declared area of concentration of at least 3.0 AND do one of the following:
    • Attain at least a cumulative GPA of 3.0 overall
    • Have achieved a rank within the top 35% of their university class
    • Have attained at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA on the most recent 30 semester hours.
  • Fulfill all pledge requirements of the Iota Alpha Chapter
