Online Help

ONLINE APPOINTMENT SYSTEM

We offer individual Tutoring appointments for some courses, and Writing and OWL appointments for most courses, as well as Study Skills appointments that are available to all students. Other courses may be covered by our STEM Lab, Study Sessions, and/or Supplemental Instruction. Some courses we are unable to hire tutors for (remember, all tutors are current UNCW students!).

To use our online appointment system to check whether your course is currently covered by any of our services, follow these steps:

  1. Login to our online appointment system using your UNCW username and password.
  2. Click "Find Appointments and Drop-In Help."
  3. Choose the subject you would like help with from the drop down menu.
  4. Choose the reason you would like help from the drop down menu.
  5. Choose "Search."
  6. The pop-up window will display upcoming availabilities. Green options are appointments, blue options are drop-in sessions. Please note that Writing and OWL appointments are only for help with writing assignments, not for content tutoring.

If the pop-up window has upcoming availabilities, go to "How to Schedule an Appointment" below and skip to step 6 to finish booking your appointment (or if you're looking for a drop-in service, click on the drop-in availability to get time and location details).

If the pop-up window does not display any upcoming availabilities, that means that either we do not cover that course, or all appointments in the next 10 days have been booked.

You can call or email us to double-check whether your course is covered, or to schedule an appointment more than 10 days in advance. You can also use our online appointment system to request a tutor (see "How to Report Unable to Find an Appointment" below). Finally, you can check the STEM Lab, Study Sessions, Supplemental Instruction, and/or Tutoring pages to see if your course is listed there.

Appointments can be made up to 10 days in advance using our online appointment system. No appointments can be made fewer than 24 hours in advance.

Follow the steps below to schedule an individual appointment with the ULC:

    • If the pop-up window does not display any availabilities, see "How to Search for Your Course" and/or "How to Report Unable to Find an Appointment"
  7. Choose the appointment Date and Time you want to schedule.
  8. If you would like to hold your appointment online via Zoom, check the "Online" box in the next pop-up window. Otherwise, your appointment will be in person in DePaolo 1056.
  9. Enter any notes you want your tutor to know before the appointment.
  10. Choose "Confirm".
  11. You will receive an automatic e-mail confirming your appointment.
  12. On the main menu page, you may also opt in to activate text message reminders (click on "Edit BIO" and in the pop-up window choose "Yes" for "Receive SMS Alerts / Reminders").

If you have searched our online appointment system and found no availabilities for your course, we want to know! This helps us ensure that we are covering the courses that students need.

To report unable to find an appointment in our online appointment system, follow these steps:

  1. After following steps 1-6 of "How to Schedule an Appointment," if there are no availabilities, there will be a button in the lower left of the pop-up window that says "Report Unable to Find an Appointment." Click here.
  2. In the "What were you hoping to find" field, let us know what specific course you were looking for, and what kind of help you were looking for (e.g. individual appointment, study session, drop-in, etc.).
  3. In the "What did you find instead" field, let us know what, if anything, you did find availabilities for (e.g. you may have found a Writing appointment but you were looking for a Tutoring appointment).

We will always attempt to find a tutor for you, although once the semester has begun that isn't always possible.

You can also call or email us with the same information.

Appointments must be canceled at least 24 hours before they are scheduled to occur. Appointments cancelled fewer than 24 hours in advance will count as a missed appointment (see our Attendance Policy).

Do NOT contact your tutor directly! Doing so will not cancel your appointment.

To cancel your appointment, follow these steps:

  1. Login to our online appointment system using your UNCW username and password.
  2. Your upcoming appointments will be displayed in a yellow box. You can scroll through the dates to find the appointment you need to cancel.
  3. Once you have found the correct appointment date and time, click on the "X" button to cancel the appointment.
  4. The pop-up box will prompt you to provide a reason for your cancellation, which is helpful to us!
  5. Click "Cancel Appointment" to finalize the cancellation.

You may also call or email the ULC to cancel your appointment.

Please note that declining or responding to the Outlook calendar invitation emailed to you when you scheduled your appointment will not actually cancel your appointment - you must follow the steps above.
