Vets/Active Service Members

(including National Guard and Reserve service members)

Military/Veteran Spouses and Dependents

• Apply as a first-year student (students who are currently attending high school or have graduated, but have not completed any college-level coursework since high school graduation), or
• Apply as a transfer student (students who have graduated from high school/obtained a GED and attended or are currently enrolled in a degree program at a different college/university)

Military-affiliated students may indicate their interest in applying for the Honors College at UNCW on either the first-year or transfer application.

Graduate students apply through the Graduate School.

All students are encouraged to apply for scholarships.

Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for fall/spring and an additional FAFSA for the summer term, if taking classes during the summer.

UNCW offers a military-affiliated student payment plan, which allows the bill to be divided into 3 payments over the course of the fall or spring semester.

On-campus housing is available at UNCW for both first-year students and transfer students.

Off-campus housing is also available. For those who choose to live off-campus close to the university, UNCW offers a free shuttle service.

Meal plans are available for both on-campus and off-campus students.

Visitors may park for free in visitor parking.

Students must pay for parking permits to park on campus at UNCW. Learn more about parking permit options and pricing.

Veterans and active military members are eligible for a $20 discount on their parking permit.

UNCW offers the following testing services at the Camp Lejeune Base Education Center:

• CLEP (College Level Examination Program)
• DANTES/DSST (Defense Activity for Non-traditional Educational Support Standardized Subject Tests.

These tests can replace college credit for certain courses.

Testing is free for active duty and reserve service members, and testing services are also available for veterans and civilians.
