- Closet Clean Out
In partnership with Housing and Residence Life and Hawk's Harvest Closet Clean Out is a yearly opportunity for resident students moving out of the halls to donate their unwanted food, clothing, household goods, and much more instead of throwing it away.
We place storage containers near the residence halls to collect material that are open daily for the two week period between last day of classes and the final move out date. These containers are open daily, so students can load in their donations. Staff and volunteers then unload, sort, separate, and fold items and prepare them for various local non-profits and campus partners. In previous years, we've donated to Campus Catholic Ministry, Habitat for Humanity, Good Shepherd Center, Manos Unidas, Vintage Values, Hawk's Harvest, UNCW Library, and Our Infant of Prague.

Closet Clean Out 2025
Closet Clean Out 2025 was a success!
Thank you to this year's community partners: Good Shepherd Center, Infant of Prague, Manos Unidas, Hawk's Harvest, UNCW Library, and Vintage Values!
This year was the best year yet. We folded, sorted, packed, and processed 13, 802 pounds of materials!
Special thanks to all our volunteers. We had 65 people work 130 hours to help make UNCW more sustainable and keep perfectly good items from the landfill!
Want to join the fun next year? Keep an eye out around late April when the volunteer list posts. Can't wait to see you there!
