Programs & Outreach
Since 2019, UNCW Sustainability has partnered with the City of Wilmington's Heal Our Waterways and NC Coastal Federation to implement nine stormwater control retrofit projects across campus, which include rain gardens, pervious parking stalls, and a permeable paver access road. Using the NC Division of Water Resources' EPA Section 319 Water Quality grant monies, these projects target nonpoint source pollution in the Bradley Creek Watershed in support of the Bradley & Hewlett's Creek Watershed Protection Plan. To date, these projects successfully treat approximately 630,000 gallons of stormwater every time it rains and keeps that pollution out of Bradley Creek.

The Student Village Recreation Facilities and Fields project is a continuation of the Outdoor Recreational Master Plan and consists of improvements to the existing recreation fields site adjacent to the new student village, The Shore Dining Facility and Campus Recreation Facility.
The Office of Sustainability is proud to partner with Campus Recreation and the UNCW Office of Energy to support the installation of a 17kW solar array that will assist in generating power to help reduce the traditional energy consumption of the pavilion building.
