Contact Physical Security and Access Department for Initial Consultation
Our team can help provide insight into proper camera placement and configuration to ensure the security camera captures the proper subject matter. Our team will review the following factors to give you an understanding of what the project may require:
- Availability of existing infrastructure.
- Distance between installation site and nearest security room.
- Hardware requirements.
- Installation and building structural challenges.
Entering a Special Project Request
All requests for new camera installations must be entered as a Special Project Request (SPR), which is handled by the Project Management department in the Office of Facilities. Once submitted, a Project Manager will be assigned to the case. The Project Manager will help determine a installation plan and an estimated cost.
Review by the Security Committee
Once and agreement is reached on the plan and estimated cost, each camera install will need to be reviewed by the Security Committee. The role of the Security Committee is to ensure that the request includes, at a minimum, a description of the following:
- Purpose, location, and target areas of each camera
- Designated camera manager
- Access permissions
- Retention period for recorded images captured by the system
- Capacity to house, manage and refresh the camera system
To submit a camera for review by the Security committee, complete the Application for Non-Instructional Camera Installation form.
