K- 12 teachers will be introduced to the Cubelet resources available through CESTEM to get students thinking critically. Easily create robots using the snap together sense, think, and act cubes. Explore ways that Cubelets encourage computational thinking. Learn to use these devices to bring inquiry and problem solving into your instruction.

K-12 teachers will practice setting up, operating, and managing CESTEM’s VR System, explore the curricular content available through Google ExpeditionsPro, discuss the best use of VR during classroom instruction, lead an expedition using the teacher tablet, and leave with a lesson, ready to use VR technology with students. This training is required to borrow CESTEM’s VR System.

K-12 teachers will learn to operate CESTEM’s 360 camera and explore some possible applications. During the session,  participants will create their own virtual tour with photos they take using the CESTEM camera. Participants will get experience using a platform that creates virtual tours ready to use with a VR headset and virtual lessons that students can view on a computer. VR 1 is suggested as a prerequisite, but not required.

This two-part workshop aims to increase participants' chances of successful grant applications. K-12 will 1) learn the fundamentals of grant writing, including how to identify suitable grant opportunities, craft compelling proposals, and navigate the application process effectively, and 2) gain awareness of project evaluation principles and draft a data collection and evaluation plan.

K-2 teachers will explore the resources in CESTEM's Technology Loan Program that engage students in STEM challenges based on children's stories. Review the Science and Engineering Practices for K-2 and develop a plan for implementing the SEPs during instruction.  Consider ways to integrate critical thinking and problem-solving into your lessons.

K-12 teachers will be introduced to the Vernier Technology available in CESTEM's Technology Loan Program. Participants will get hands on experience using Vernier Interfaces and Sensors to collect data. It doesn't matter if you have used Vernier Technology before or if it is your first time. The workshop will focus on ways to integrate the data collection tools into your instruction for content specific standards and Science and Engineering Practices.

K-12 Teachers will learn to operate CESTEM's Cylinder Based StarLab Planetarium. This training is required to borrow the StarLab from CESTEM.

Discover how something so tiny can have a huge impact on learning in grades 3-12. Learn to create code and transfer the program to the micro:bit. Explore some project tutorials related to both Math and Science and consider ways to use the micro:bit with your students. Micro:bits are so versatile and easy to use. The free browser-based platform and online simulator makes them accessible. Start simple and go at your own pace to try more complex projects. The possibilities are endless.

Create student centered experiences that value students' thinking and promote sensemaking as a part of the learning process in grades K-12. This hands-on session uses the Science and Mathematics Formative Assessment Probes by Page Keeley and items from CESTEM's Technology Loan Program to explore ways that students can improve their understanding in both science and mathematics. You will leave with dozens of strategies for integrating critical thinking into your instruction.

K-12 teachers will engage in a variety of STEM related team building challenges. Explore the use of group activities to get students to communicate with each other. One of the challenges will include a Breakout Box Game using a variety of tools. You will learn to reset locks and set up your own Breakout Box Game from scratch. Completion of this training is required to borrow CESTEM's Breakout Boxes.

Teachers will work with other new coaches to build a SeaPerch ROV from start to finish just like they will do with their new teams in grades 6-12. While supplies last, schools new to SeaPerch with a representative that completes the training will receive one ROV kit to build with their new team. (Limit one kit per school.)

K-8 teachers will consider Astronomy concepts through engaging activities they can recreate with their students in the classroom. Explore night/day, seasons, shadows, and moon phases. View constellations and hear stories about them from all over the world. Learn about and even try out items in CESTEM’s Technology Loan Program that support teaching Astronomy concepts.
