Carpooling can be a fun way to get to know your classmates better, save money and help the environment all at the same time.

Did you know UNCW offers a carpool program? If you plan to participate, you know these rules and regulations.

Rules and Regulations

  • The carpool program requires a minimum of two participants.
  • All participants and all of their vehicles must be registered on the student carpool registration form to be associated with the carpool program.
  • A primary driver must be designated and is responsible for the use of the virtual permit. The primary driver's eligible parking zone is assigned to all drivers (based on availability). The primary driver is issued the virtual parking credential. The permit is then linked to whichever vehicle is parked on campus.
  • The cost of the permit is based on the primary driver's zone designation and then divided equally between the other participants.
  • In addition to the primary permit, 10 scratch-off day passes are given for use when carpooling is not feasible. The parking zone on the primary permit will be the zone designated on the scratch-off day passes. Additional scratch-off day passes can be purchased for $5 each.
  • Misuse of the carpool program will result in the revocation of the carpool permit.
