Types of Aid

Students and families work diligently planning and saving for college expenses. However, there are times when unexpected expenses arise like a chipped tooth, an urgent flight home, or broken eyeglasses and students need additional support outside of their standard financial aid options. Our office will work to connect students with the resources available to them. 

Seahawk Emergency Aid Fund

The purpose of the fund is to assist UNCW students with unexpected expenses that they may incur during the academic year and/or summer for which they are enrolled. The fund is not intended to provide support before semester refunds are processed or to serve as financial aid which pays for typical and expected school-related costs. The fund is in grant form and not a loan, so it does not have to be repaid.

The fund is not intended to assist with natural disasters, pandemics, etc. (support for those are typically resource by other entities like the Federal Government, State, and/or UNCW Donors). The Seahawk Emergency Aid Fund can support expenses such as:

  • Childcare
  • Dental
  • Food
  • Graduation expenses
  • Housing
  • Medical
  • Transportation
