Our aquatics programming includes American Red Cross Certification Courses, a Learn to Swim program, special events, and fun new challenges. Learn more below!

 

American Red Cross Programs

We offer American Red Cross Certification Courses for Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR and Lifeguarding. These courses are available to current students, faculty, staff, alumni, community guests and their dependents. Registration is available at the Aquatics Online Store, or you can visit our main office in the Pat Leonard Student Recreation Center.

*All minors must be accompanied by a responsible guardian for the entirety of the course.   

Learn to Swim Program

Through our Learn to Swim Program, private swimming lessons are available to current students, faculty, staff, alumni, community guests and their dependents ages 6-months through adult. Registration is available at the Aquatics Online Store, or you can visit our main office in the Pat Leonard Student Recreation Center.

Swim Carolina Coastal Edition

3,375 square miles make up the North Carolina coastline. We challenge you to swim 100 miles each to collectively swim the entire length of the coastline as Seahawk team!

The Challenge runs September 1st, 2023 through June 30th, 2024. Register by logging your first swim! Log swims by joining our club on Swim.com, a free app and website for tracking swimming workouts. Receive free prizes for each milestone you reach. Email 2swim@uncw.edu every milestone to set up a time to pick up your prize!

  • Sign-up: SCCE Sticker
  • 35 miles: SCCE T-Shirt
    • ~35 miles from Carova Beach to Wright Brother's National Memorial
  • 55 miles: SCCE Reusable Utensil Kit
    • ~55 miles from Kill Devil Hills to Cape Hatteras Lighthouse
  • 75 miles: 1, 30-minute swim lesson
    • ~75 miles from Cape Hatteras to Cape Lookout Lighthouse
  • 100 miles: Raffle for SCCE dry bag
    • ~100 miles from Cape Lookout Shoals to Carolina Beach

Mileage Calculations (25 Yard Pool):

1 mile = 1,760 yards = 70 laps

*a lap is swimming from one end of the pool to the other
