Student Government Association Student Government Association

The Senate consists of 50 voting members who serve on ten different committees. The Student Body Vice President acts as the President of the Senate. The Student Body Vice President appoints the President Pro-Tempore from among the elected Senators, with two-thirds confirmation by the Senate.

Every Tuesday at 6 pm the Senate meets to discuss changes in the school, propose legislation, vote on funding for student organizations, and liaison with UNCW faculty, staff and administrators. Full accounts of the meetings are taken by the Director of Communications - called the minutes. Appropriations Committee

This committee oversees the allocation of the SGA Student Fee processes including, but not limited to: student organization funding, departmental support, and services provided to students.

Diversity and Inclusion Committee

This committee plans and coordinates diverse events and works with administration to review diversity initiatives on campus and in the Wilmington community.

Marketing Committee

This committee manages the public presence of the SGA, including social media, advertising events and activities and oversees the marketing and promotion of the organization.

Outreach Committee

This committee seeks out the opinion of the student body. They conduct monthly outreach events and programs to get feedback from SGA's constituents.

Health & Wellness Committee

This committee collaborates wtih UNCW departments to display committments to all aspects of the Healthy Hawks model and the eight (8) dimensions of wellbeing.

Student Services Committee

This committee addresses all student services concerns of UNCW students including but not limited to Campus Recreation, Student Health Center, CARE, Crossroads, Career Center, Learning and Writing Center, Health Promotions and mental health.

Campus Services Committee

This committee addresses all campus services concerns of UNCW students including but not limited to campus parking, campus dining, transportation, information technology, UNCW contracts, UNCW Bookstore, University Police relations and student IDs.

Academic Affairs Committee

This committee addresses all academic concerns of UNCW Students including but not limited to textbooks, grading scale, UNCW Student Academic Honor Code, University Library, Academic Advising, lecture halls and the Center for Academic Advising.

Internal Affairs Committee

This committee coordinates, develops, and proposes any amendments pertaining to judiciary issues, member accountability, and coordinates community service-related opportunities for SGA and its constituents.

External Affairs Committee

This committee researches the effects of policies relating to higher education, draft student opinions on policy making, and explore ways to better connect SGA to the statewide political landscape and address all concerns of UNCW students relating to areas of close proximity to campus including community relations, off-campus housing, and safety.
