Student Government Association

The Student Government Association is an organization made by students, made of students and made for students.

SGA Mission Statement

We, the members of the SGA, in the firm belief that Student Government can result in individual growth and is a collective advantage to the students at this University, attempt to assure that student opinion and activities are an integral part of the University community.

We will insure the development of freedom of thought, the exchange of ideas, and guarantee the rights and privileges of the students at this University.

Purpose of SGA
Location & Contact
  • To further and uphold the best interests of the students and other members of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington community;
  • To receive the opinion of the student body and to investigate complaints brought forward by students;
  • To voice the opinion of the general student body;
  • To maintain the liberties of individual students and the student body as a whole;
  • To coordinate activities pertaining to the students or the campus of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington;
  • To appropriate student activity money and to finance activities which enrich and improve the quality of university life;
  • To review the statements and actions of the University Administration, the UNC system, or the State Legislature and develop a position on behalf of the student body;
  • We shall adhere to all university rules, regulations, policies, as well as to all local, state, and federal laws;
  • The Student Government Association is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, or scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distribution to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954.

The Student Government Association (SGA) office is located within the Campus Activities & Involvement Center (CAIC).

CAIC Business Hours:

Monday - Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Thursday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Closed on Saturday and Sunday. 

Summer Business Hours:

Monday - Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Closed on Saturday and Sunday.
