This resource guide was assembled by UNCW's Mohin-Scholz LGBTQIA Resource Center. The guide provides our LGBTQIA students, faculty and staff with helpful resources.
It is also an attempt to promote the safety of our LGBTQIA students, faculty and staff in businesses, organizations, places of worship and services in the Wilmington community.
We have included resources that have identified themselves as being or having one or more of the following:
This guide is not a complete list of all resources available to LGBTQIA students, faculty and staff. Any organization who wishes to be considered for this guide should contact the Mohin-Scholz LGBTQIA Resource Office at 910.962.2114.
Additionally, we reserve the right to remove from this list any organization or business that no longer adheres to the policies they have communicated. UNCW does not necessarily endorse the views or activities of these listed or businesses.

The Mohin-Scholz LGBTQIA Resource Center at the University of North Carolina Wilmington supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex and allied students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Our center works to create a safe and inclusive environment for the LGBTQIA community and contribute to a culturally rich campus.
Additionally, the center works both to raise awareness and inclusion of sexual and gender minorities and to provide information, referral, support, and programming to the UNCW Community. We do this through community building, advocacy, social justice and diversity education and the development of global citizens. All members of the UNCW campus are welcome.

In the spirit of collective work and responsibility, the University of North Carolina Wilmington actively fosters, encourages, and promotes inclusiveness, mutual respect, acceptance and open-mindedness among students, faculty, staff, and the broader community. Diversity enhances our academic experience in that it fosters a free exchange of ideas from multiple perspectives. Diversity engenders creativity, expands our collective imagination, and, in so doing, cultivates possibility. As we acknowledge a world with injustice, we seek to create tangible spaces where people with multiple identities live free from harassment, discrimination, and marginalization.

The Gender Studies and Research Center provides students, faculty, staff, and those in the greater Wilmington community with opportunities to experience the diverse facets of women's lives, hopes and concerns from artistic, historical, and other perspectives. The center offers an interdisciplinary Women's Studies minor, opportunities for community outreach and an ongoing calendar of co-curricular activities which include workshops, lectures and scholarly panels.
Connecting with affiliated faculty, the Women's Studies minor provides diverse intellectual frameworks for investigating issues related to women, gender, and sexuality, including the history and function of gender roles, the construction of gendered identity in diverse cultural contexts, the experience of masculinity and femininity across the lifespan, patterns and consequences of discrimination and privilege, and the development of organized women's social movements.
