The purpose of this page is to provide faculty and staff with an opportunity to learn more about how to create inclusive environments, both online and in person, for LGBTQIA+ identifying individuals at UNCW. This page will continue to be updated and revised as more resources are discovered and developed. Please contact the Mohin-Scholz LGBTQIA Resource Office with comments, questions, or concerns. Suggestions are also welcome.
This site provides a variety of resources geared toward supporting the LGBTQIA+ population on campus, drawing from the narratives of current and alumni students. The Queer Voices Project, which interviewed 26 volunteers about their experiences at UNCW, allowed for student insight and input as to the types of resources and information that should be provided here. While this group was only a small sample of the Queer community on campus, this page was made possible by their willingness to share and be open about their experiences as part of the UNCW community.
This project was funded by the UNCW Student Undergraduate Research and Creativity Award (SURCA) led by two faculty members: Dr. Addie Sayers, Department of English, and Dr. Ann Rotchford, Department of Sociology and Criminology; researched and designed by: Audrey Schumacher, Queer Activist, and Meg Robertson, Department of English; and approved by Brooke Lambert, Former Director of Mohin Scholz LGBTQIA Resource Center.

Queer Connections Directory
By the Mohin-Scholz LGBTQIA Resource Center
The Queer Connections Directory is a list comprised of openly LGBTQIA+ identifying faculty and professional staff at UNCW outside of the Mohin-Scholz LGBTQIA+ Resource Center. This list was created to help show representation on campus, provide an easy way to connect with one another, and provide LGBTQ+ students a list of professional staff who share similar identities in hopes that they will feel more welcome in different spaces all around campus.
If you would like to be added to this list, please contact Asher Persin atpersinm@uncw.edu.
