About Staff Senate

UNCW's Staff Senate aims to foster a spirit of unity, pride and cooperation among staff. As an advisory board to the Chancellor, senators represent and advocate for all SHRA and EHRA non-faculty voices and support the university's mission. Staff Senate meetings are held monthly, and staff are encouraged to attend in-person or through Zoom.

Upcoming Meetings

The 2024-25 Staff Senate meetings are scheduled for the following Wednesdays from 2-4 p.m. in McNeill Hall, room 1051. A Zoom link and agenda will be shared via email the morning of the meeting. Nov. 13, Dec. 11, Jan. 8, Feb. 12, Mar. 12, Apr. 9 and May 14

Scholarship Application Open

The Staff Senate Scholarship provides multiple merit-based scholarships each year with a minimum award amount of $500. All permanent SHRA and EHRA non-faculty employees and their dependents who are current UNCW undergraduate or graduate students are eligible to apply.

Global Travel Grant Applications Open

To encourage and support professional development through international experiences, Global Partnerships and International Education provides two grants each year with a maximum award amount of $2,5000.

Staff Assembly

Three Staff Senate members participate on the UNC Staff Assembly, made up of representatives from all UNC campuses. They advise and communicate with officers of the university, and through these officers, the Board of Governors, on matters of importance to staff.
