Students who begin their first academic year at UNCW immediately after graduating high school are considered first year students.
Students classified as first-year students are required to live in on-campus housing for their first two years at UNCW. Get more information on this housing requirement.

First-year students are required to live in a traditional first-year residence hall. Here are the options:
Each Living Learning Community is assigned to a specific area of campus. You may select up to 3 building preferences and 1 roommate preference. However, the Living Learning Community you join will determine where you will be assigned.
Typically, your requested roommate must also be a member of that community. Center for Academic Advising should be able to provide more information about their Learning Communities' processes and programs.
Affinity communites are spaces in our Residence Halls where students can learn, collaborate, and explore the communities they identify with. UNCW currently has two Affinity communities:
