- Audit/Graded Audit Course Registration
The graded audit option is available to students who need to repeat a course beyond the repeat rules or who wish to have a letter grade recorded for a course previously satisfied through transfer credit or special exam. There is also an ungraded audit option that allows a student to repeat a course without a letter grade.
In both audit types, the course counts as attempted hours but not as earned hours, GPA hours, quality points, or toward GPA calculation. Audited courses do not count toward full-time status, loan deferment, or financial aid eligibility and will not replace original grades on the DegreeWorks Degree Audit.
Participation requires faculty approval. Tuition and fees apply to both audit and graded audit courses.
How To Request an Audit/Graded Audit
-
How to Request an Audit or Graded Audit
- Log into MySeaport and select Student.
- Click Course Audit Request.
- Select the term and submit.
- On the Select Form page, review audit and graded audit differences, choose your option, and submit.
- Select the subject, course, and section.
- Review your selection and click Submit for Approval.
- You will receive an email confirmation, and the instructor will be asked to approve or deny your request.
- For graded audits, the course dean must also approve after the instructor.
- You may track your request by clicking Check Status of Audit/Graded Audit Form in the Registration menu.
- Once all approvals are granted, the Registrar’s Office will attempt to register you. If conflicts prevent registration, the Registrar will work with approvers to resolve the issue.
Instructor Approval Process
Instructors must enter necessary overrides before approving requests to avoid delays. To review requests, log into MySeaport, select the Faculty tab, and open Audit Registration Request Decisions. From the list of pending approvals, select a request ID, then approve or deny. Comments may be added and will be visible to the student.
Senior Citizen Audit
North Carolina residents aged 65 and older may audit courses tuition-free. All audit rules apply. Senior citizens must apply through the Office of Admissions.
