Learn more about registering for classes at UNCW as an unclassified student.

Unclassified students do not meet the typical admission requirements but are able to take courses to prove they're suitable to enroll at UNCW.

Registration

An unclassified student may enroll in up to 18 credit hours of courses in a semester. However, they cannot take more than a cumulative total of 30 credit hours while unclassified.

The student's enrollment will end and the student may not reapply for admission if the student does not qualify for degree status after 30 credit hours have been attempted.

Unclassified students are subject to all applicable academic regulations of the university. But they are not eligible for federally funded financial aid programs.

Orientation & Advising

Unclassified students do not need to attend orientation. Additionally, the student will not have an academic advisor assigned.
