CTE CAMPUS TALK
The Psychological, Social, and Educational Benefits of Intellectual Humility
Thursday, October 16, 2:00pm - 3:00pm | Morton Hall 100
Description:
What if being wrong could make us wiser? Intellectual humility—the ability to recognize the limits of our knowledge and stay open to other perspectives—is a powerful tool for learning, collaboration with others, and personal growth. Join us for a conversation led by Dr. Mark Leary (Duke University) to explore how embracing uncertainty can lead to better decisions, deeper understanding, and stronger communities.
About our speaker:
Dr. Mark Leary is Garonzik Family Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Neuroscience at Duke University. He received his Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Florida and taught at Denison University, the University of Texas at Austin, and Wake Forest University before joining the Duke faculty in 2006. He has published 13 books and more than 250 scholarly articles and chapters, received numerous awards for his scientific contributions, and served as President of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology in 2015.
