Professional Development

The Division of Academic Affairs is an institutional member of HigherEd+, which provides exclusive access to a suite of professional development, career advancement, and mentoring resources for undergraduate and graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, faculty members, staff, and administrators.

You can access hundreds of evidence-based courses by leading experts and the ability to earn dozens of digital badge microcredentials. HigherEd+ will help you master critical skillsets and enable you to thrive in both academic and industry careers. Faculty can also integrate HigherEd+ courses into their existing or new classes.

  • On Demand Course Library: An entire library of over 200 On Demand professional development and career advancement video courses from HigherEd+.
  • Digital Badge Microcredentials: Earn over 30 Digital Badge Microcredentials and add them to your CV, resume, and LinkedIn profile. As an Institutional Member, UNCW instructors also have the option to use HigherEd+ content to create their own programs with custom-branded badges.   • Facilitator Materials: UNCW instructors have access to summaries of HigherEd+ On Demand courses as well as engaging activities, exercises, and discussion questions to supplement each. Faculty Meetings

Once each semester, a meeting of the full faculty is held. These meetings are facilitated by the Chancellor and typically include a report or remarks from the Faculty Senate President and the Provost. UNCW log-in required to view.

Faculty Senate

With members elected by the faculty, the Faculty Senate considers and acts on university matters, including participation in the formation, implementation and review of university policy. Faculty Senate also maintains the Faculty Handbook, containing governance guidelines for faculty.

The Staff Senate is a non-governing body that serves as an advisory board to the Chancellor to represent all staff employee voices on campus. This body serves across the entire university.
