Your Next Steps

  1. Due - The enrollment deposit is usually due within two weeks of receiving your official acceptance letter. Specific guidance regarding the timeframe to commit to graduate studies is determined by your program.

  2. Credit - The $50 enrollment deposit is a credit towards tuition and fees and is non-refundable.

  3. Waiver Options - 
    Enrollment Deposit Waiver
    • Active-Duty Military Member
    • Current UNCW graduate student adding a program
    • Current UNCW graduate student changing programs
    • Current UNCW undergraduate student joining graduate studies
    • Having applied for aid, grant, scholarship, private award, GA, TA, etc.

    • Participating in an Online Accelerated Program
    • UNCW faculty/staff/dependent

  4. Pay Through mySeaport
    Enrollment Deposit Payment
    • Available Monday-Friday
    • UNCW credentials are listed within your decision letter
    • Access mySeaport, hover over Students, choose New & Transfer Students, and pay the enrollment deposit.

  5. Time Ticket - A time ticket is assigned 1-2 business days after the enrollment deposit has been paid or waived. The time ticket allows registration and is assigned during registration periods. It is listed on SeaNet and indicates when you may register.
  1. Advising - Typically the program will reach out to you directly for advising, but feel free to reach out to them directly. Spring registration takes place each fall and Summer/Fall registration takes place each spring.

  3. Textbooks - The UNCW Bookstore provides textbook information, however books may also be purchased through alternate sources.

  4. Degree Requirements & University Calendar - The University Catalogue and your Degree Audit are tools that provide guidance on the requirements to complete your program. Review the catalogue requirements and discuss the degree requirements with your advisor. Also, take a moment to review the University Calendar.

  5. Important Dates - The Important Dates provides a calendar that is a snapshot of important dates. Note: The Online Accelerated Programs (OAP) uses an alternate calendar and course model.

  • Who Needs a Final Transcript:
    • Request one official transcript if your decision letter says, "Your admission has been approved pending receipt of one official transcript".
      • NOTE:  If you earned your bachelor's degree from UNCW, we will retrieve the official copy.
    • Foreign credentials must be evaluated course-by-course
      through a current NACES approved credential service, except Department of State sponsored students.

See the University Catalogue for semester start/end dates and a calendar of events. Check with your graduate coordinator or advisor about your required arrival date.

Residential students (those taking classes on the UNCW campus) may be expected to arrive prior to the beginning of classes. Those students who are receiving teaching assistantships should plan to arrive well before the start of classes, as should some research and graduate assistants.

The Graduate School holds an optional general orientation session at the beginning of each fall semester. 
Note: Your individual program may hold a separate required orientation.

UNCW does not send a paper bill through the mail. It is imperative that you view your E-Bill and ensure that the proper payments are made before the published deadlines.

Two business days after you register for classes, you may complete the application for parking.

You may obtain your UNCW OneCard two business days after you have registered for classes.

All campus positions available to graduate students are posted on UNCW's Career Services job site, Handshake. Most campus graduate assistant positions may also be emailed to all graduate students at the time of their posting; it is advised that graduate students looking for campus work check their UNCW email address regularly.
