Art History Minor Program Overview

The art history minor offers courses that cover the entire swath of history and actively seeks to teach students about canonical and noncanonical influences through the ages.

Multidisciplinary Approach

This minor provides a dynamic and diverse pathway for studying the arts and the historical contexts in which they were produced.

Art history is a truly multidisciplinary field, one where students learn and work within the tenets of history, philosophy, sociology, psychology and anthropology, among others.

How Do I Apply?

No special requirements for admission.

No more than 3 hours of ARH 491 or 3 hours of ARH 498 may be counted towards the minor.

Courses counted towards a major in studio art (i.e., ARH 201, 202, 308) cannot be counted toward completion of minor requirements. Nine additional hours of art history courses may be chosen to fulfill minor requirements for studio art majors.

A grade of "C" (2.00) overall average is required for all courses counted toward the minor.
