Message from Chancellor Aswani K. Volety

Dear UNCW Community:

Entering this season of thankfulness, I am grateful for the support of the Seahawk family and proud of your work in service to the university and our students. I appreciate it when Seahawks receive much-deserved recognition in the community and are elevated to a larger stage.

Many names from UNCW are on the latest “Wilmington Biz 100,” an annual Greater Wilmington Business Journal list recognizing those in the region impacting North Carolina’s business landscape. I am honored to recognize the many faculty, staff and alumni leaders on the list, who continue to make a difference throughout our community.

UNCW was named to the Best for Vets 2024 Colleges list from Military Times, the largest and most comprehensive ranking of schools for military service members and veterans. As a university founded to serve veterans after World War II, UNCW has long been committed to serving its military-affiliated students.

The arts and athletics bring so much energy and excitement to our campus and the community. Our theatre and music departments just staged Head over Heels, adding a musical to the university’s campus productions. For the first time, our campus is hosting the Live Oak Bank Holiday Classic. The round-robin men’s basketball event starting today brings teams from Sam Houston, Colgate and Appalachian State to play in Trask Coliseum.

Thank you to all who invest in UNCW, enhancing learning experiences for our students, advancing research and furthering programs across campus and beyond. I look forward to #GivingTuesday next week, a day designed to encourage a culture of generosity and support—and another opportunity to stand behind UNCW's accomplishments.

Yours in Seahawk Spirit,
