Please take a few moments to watch a video update about UNCW’s next strategic plan. The Strategic Design and Planning Steering Committee is making great progress and requests your continued participation in this important process. SDPSC co-chairs Nathan Grove, Susan Smith and Jamie Winebrake recorded the update just before winter break, and they extend the well wishes expressed in the video into the new year.
UNCW stands at a pivotal moment in its history. Under the leadership of Chancellor Aswani K. Volety, the university celebrated its 75th anniversary in September. The university has grown exponentially since its founding in 1947 and now serves as an anchor institution in one of North Carolina's fastest-growing regions.
To support the university's long-term, continued success, Chancellor Volety has appointed the 2022-23 Strategic Design and Planning Steering Committee, charging the group to build on strategic planning efforts launched the previous year. The SDPSC includes faculty, staff and students who represent a diverse set of experiences, backgrounds and perspectives. The previously appointed committee co-chairs will continue their roles.
As the Chancellor outlined in his appointment letter, he has charged the committee with developing a timeline and framework for strategic design and planning, among other responsibilities. As part of the process, the committee is expected to "facilitate the collection of input from the campus community, trustees, community leaders, and other stakeholders through townhall meetings and other fora."
