SEPTEMBER 06, 2023 - Beginning with the 2023 municipal elections, the UNCW One Card issued to students can be used as a form of photo identification to vote. The One Card can also be used in the 2024 primary and general presidential elections. It will be considered a valid form of voter identification through Dec. 31, 2024.
Students who received a One Card after July 1, 2023, will notice a visible expiration date. Please note the visible expiration date was added to meet the requirement under the new state law for voter identification and does not apply to access to UNCW buildings or accounts. All One Cards issued prior to July 1 are still eligible for use to vote. Information about the UNCW One Card can be found on the One Card FAQ website.
Visit the North Carolina Board of Elections website for additional college student information about voting and other forms of valid voter identification. You can also find voting information at the New Hanover County Board of Elections website.
