Summer Intern Housing

In order to apply for summer intern housing, interns must:

• Be 18 years old or older.
• Not be a currently enrolled student at the University of North Carolina Wilmington
• Request housing for a minimum of (30) days.
• Provide proof of internship: Interns will need to upload an offer letter from their summer internship with their application.
• Provide proof of enrollment at a college or university: Interns will need to upload proof of enrollment at a college and university with their application.
• The following three forms of proof will be accepted:
  • Tuition invoice or payment receipt: A receipt for tuition payments for the Fall 2025 semester.
  • Confirmation of student status: An official letter that confirms a student's status, home address, and the university's term dates.
  • Certificate of enrollment: A document that can be used to verify enrollment for student visas, immigration applications, or to confirm graduation.
• Secure renter's insurance: Interns will not need to submit a copy of their policy with their application but must be able to produce this to UNCW if asked during their stay.

Summer interns will be housed at Plato’s Loft. Plato's Lofts is a luxury off-campus student destination in Wilmington, NC. It is minutes away from the UNCW campus. All apartments are single gender, fully furnished, 4-bedroom layouts with private bathrooms. All apartments include a living room with a TV, kitchen, washer and dryer, internet and utilities. Summer interns will share an apartment with other interns. Each intern is responsible for providing their own bed and bath linens, cookware, laundry supplies, and any personal items needed for their stay.

On-site parking is included in the summer rate.

Interns can explore a variety of amenities including a resort style pool, business center, a media room, and a fitness center.

Check-ins will take place at the leasing office at Plato’s Loft. Check-ins will not be available on Monday, May 26 (Memorial Day) and Friday, July 4 (Independence Day).

Interns will need to vacate and check-out of their housing no later than 10am on their respective check-out day. Keys will need to be returned to the Plato’s Loft leasing office at this time.

Roommate Request: · If you would like to request a roommate, please email clconferences@uncw.edu after applying with your request. We ask that interns interested in living together email to confirm the consent of all individuals.

• If you do not request a roommate, Conferences, Events & Reservations (CER) will assign roommates for you.

$33.00 per person per night

If an intern needs to cancel their reservations prior to their arrival to campus, a $200 cancellation fee will be applied, and they will be refunded. If for any reason, a student intern needs to vacate housing, there will be a charge for the prorated fee plus a $200 cancellation fee.

Payment in full for the length of the stay is due within (14) days of receipt of the agreement. We cannot accommodate payment plans. Please note that if you apply after April 21, the agreement and payment process will be shorter to allow time to plan accordingly for your stay. Payment can be made via credit card. CER will email payment link after receiving signed agreement.

**If your internship location/employer/advisor will be paying for your summer housing, please have them contact CER directly to make housing arrangements. If they are paying for your housing, you do not need to complete the inquiry form below. This form is for students who will pay for their own summer housing. **

1. Applications for 2025 summer intern housing will open on Friday, January 17, 2025 and will close on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 9am.
2. CER will review your inquiry and letter. If there are any questions about your responses, you will be contacted via email. Please note that CER will contact your supervisor to confirm your opportunity.
3. CER will email you an agreement within (7) business days of receipt of your inquiry.
4. Students will review, sign, and return the contract to clconferences@uncw.edu within (14) business days of receipt of the agreement.
5. Payment in full for the length of the stay is due within (14) days of receipt of the agreement. Please note that we cannot accommodate payment plans at this time. Payment can be made via credit card. CER will email payment link after receiving signed agreement.
6. CER will confirm your receipt of your signed agreement and payment via email.
7. You're all set! CER will email you at least (2) weeks prior to arrival with your housing assignment and other helpful information to help you prepare for your stay. If there are questions or concerns in the meantime, please contact CER.
