Allergy injection administration is available for students receiving treatment for chronic allergic conditions. Students receiving allergy injections at the SHC must have their allergist complete the Physician Order Form in advance and fax the form to our office for review (linked below). Our allergy program allows for administration of routine allergy injections. Requests for more complicated, specialized allergy regimens may be facilitated by referral to a local allergy specialist.

Students must wait 20-30 minutes after receiving any injection to be observed for an adverse reaction. Please plan accordingly when making your appointments.
There is a $10 administration fee for each allergy appointment.

The following immunizations are available at the Student Health Center for an additional charge. Additional information about each disease can be found by clicking on the immunization’s name.
TB screening is required for incoming International Students from high-risk countries. View a list of high-risk countries.
TB screening is available at the Student Health Center. We offer both TB skin testing and Quantiferon Gold blood tests. Students who get a TB skin test must return 48-72 hours later to have the test read. TB skin tests are not available on Thursday.

SHC has an on-site full service lab. Our lab provides basic testing with immediate results, more complex tests are sent to a large reference lab with most results back within a day.
Students are required to pay for their labs on the date of service. If a detailed statement is needed, one can be provided to students for possible reimbursement from their insurance company.
The Student Health Center offers physicals for preventative care as well as for nursing, teaching, study abroad, and pre-employment. All incoming athletes will receive an initial physical at the Student Health Center – these physicals are arranged by the trainers. Students who need a physical for some other reason should bring a copy of the physical form to the health center before scheduling an appointment.
For a nominal fee, the SHC offers men a Health Risk Assessment Exam which assesses for heart disease, kidney disease, and cancer. Blood work and a urinalysis are used to screen for diabetes and elevated lipids (cholesterol).
An important part for women of all ages is maintenance of their gynecological health. At the SHC we support this by performing Complete Physicals that can include a pap smear and STI testing on an annual basis (called an AHME, annual health maintenance exam). At the SHC we use the ACOG (American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology) guidelines when recommending when to start having a pap smear and how often they are repeated.
In addition to annual exams, our GYN services include: Contraceptive counseling - Oral, Injectable (DepoProvera) and implantable (Implanon) Routine screening for sexually transmitted infections Pregnancy testing Management of gynecological problems.
There can be additional charges associated with some of these services and testing.
Prior to your annual exam please complete a History Form (Under 40 Years Old and Over 40 Years Old) and bring it with you to your appointment.
STI testing is available at the SHC. We encourage all sexually active individuals to undergo STI testing on a regular basis, whether or not symptoms are present.
If you do have symptoms that might be due to an STI, or if you believe you have been exposed to an STI, it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible.
The U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) and infectious disease experts recommend that Americans between the ages of 13 and 64 be routinely tested for HIV. Routine testing would catch infections earlier, making treatment more effective, plus help stop the spread of HIV. The CDC recommends that HIV testing become as common as a cholesterol check. HIV Testing is available at the SHC.
