The UNCW Student Health Center does not routinely provide written excuses for missed classes or exams. It is the student's responsibility to discuss absences with class instructors.
However, a faculty member can call to verify that a student was seen on a particular date(s). The only information that will be given is the date(s) of the visit(s). All other medical information is confidential without the student’s written permission. Specific information will be released with a signed authorization by the student designating to whom information can be released.
If a student is diagnosed with COVID-19 they will be given a letter that indicates when the student will be released from isolation.

Call 911
If you need medical attention when the Student Health Center is closed, call Vitaline at 888-815-5188 to obtain medical advice from a registered nurse. Do you have a medical condition that is urgent, but not life-threatening? There are several urgent care centers located close to campus. We encourage you to call to confirm the hours, especially on holidays and when the university is closed for bad weather.
If you have an urgent and potentially life-threatening condition, go to one of the following Emergency Departments. They are open 24 hours a day.
