Appointments

The Student Health Center works on an appointment system. Please call 910.962.3280 to make an appointment.

New & exisiting patients log into the patient portal

New users will be prompted to set up their account.

The UNCW Student Health Center does not routinely provide written excuses for missed classes or exams. It is the student's responsibility to discuss absences with class instructors.

However, a faculty member can call to verify that a student was seen on a particular date(s). The only information that will be given is the date(s) of the visit(s). All other medical information is confidential without the student’s written permission. Specific information will be released with a signed authorization by the student designating to whom information can be released.

If a student is diagnosed with COVID-19 they will be given a letter that indicates when the student will be released from isolation.

Students taking main campus classes are automatically charged a Health Services Fee. The Health Services Fee is part of the fees that are automatically charged to your tuition bill each semester.

The student health fee covers:

  • Unlimited visits with the SHC providers
  • Limited SHC Psychiatric visits
  • Visit with a Registered Dietitian
  • Health Education Services and Programs
  • Alcohol and other drug prevention and education programs

Nominal fees are charged in the SHC for:

  • Laboratory testing
  • Pap smears
  • STI screening
  • Physical exams for teaching, nursing, study abroad and pre-employment
  • Vaccinations
  • Allergy injections
  • Office procedures (suturing, IV fluid EKGs, etc.).

The SHC does not bill third party insurance. Students pay at the time of their visit and receive a receipt which they can file with their insurance company.

The SHC makes every effort to keep these additional charges at a minimum.

Students Under The Age of 18

If you are a student under the age of 18, parental consent is necessary to be treated for most conditions at the SHC. Please make sure the parental consent line on the Medical History Report Form is signed by your parent or legal guardian.
