The Greek Standards & Assessment Program (GSAP) is used to help fraternity and sorority chapters at the University of North Carolina Wilmington excel in their chapter and member experience. It provides a shared foundation for the FSL experience at UNCW.

About

The Greek Standards & Assessment Program (GSAP) identifies six key categories for excellence, (1) Chapter Management, (2) Scholarship, (3) Philanthropy & Service, (4) Community, (5) Retention & Belonging, (6) Member Development & Safety.

Evaluation

  • Chapters are provided a list of action steps in each category that they are expected to achieve. 
  • After completing all the basic expectations, chapters can choose to go beyond expectations to achieve additional levels of recognition.
  • Chapters communicate their achievements through monthly meetings with their assigned chapter coach and a final presentation at the end of the calendar year.
  • Chapters are awarded Bronze (meets basic expectations), Silver, or Gold status depending on their level of achievement.

Timeline

GSAP runs on a calendar year cycle, starting in January and ending in November. 

  • January: GSAP packets distributed and reviewed with presidents
  • Monthly: Chapter coach check-ins with presidents
  • November: GSAP Presentations
  • December/January: Awards and Recognition Celebration

This level of achievement indicates a functional chapter. The chapter meets minimum expectations across the 6 key focus areas of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

  • Awarded to the chapters with the highest Overall GPA in their Council
  • 2025:
    • Sigma Alpha Omega (UGC)
    • Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. (NPHC)
    • Sigma Chi (IFC)
    • Chi Omega (PHC)
  • Awarded to the chapter with the highest GSAP achievements per Council, signifying their exceptional membership experience.
  • 2025:
    • Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (NPHC)
    • Chi Phi (IFC)
    • Chi Omega (PHC)
  • Awarded to the chapter that has shown the most improvement in multiple areas of chapter operations over the past year.
  • 2025: Delta Zeta
  • Awarded to a chapter with a strong, consistent partnership with a community organization. The chapter will have demonstrated an understanding of Community Engagement beyond service hours.
  • 2025: 2Share, Inc., Chi Phi
  • Awarded to a chapter with a creative philanthropy event that engages the FSL, campus, and Wilmington communities. The event should educate participants on the issue or mission that the event is supporting and demonstrate a clear and direct impact on the issue/mission.
  • 2025: Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, Alpha Chi Omega
  • Awarded to an individual initiated member who demonstrates the values of their organization and the FSL community.
  • 2025:
    • Brother: Avedis Ovanessian, Delta Sigma Phi
    • Sister: Emma Levin, Alpha Gamma Delta
  • Awarded to an individual new member who demonstrates the values of their organization and the FSL community.
  • 2025: Chloe Crum, Alpha Phi
  • Awarded to an individual president who demonstrates the values of their organization and exceeds FSL expectations for presidential responsibility.
  • 2025: Daniel Lynch, Chi Phi
  • Awarded to an individual advisor who demonstrates the values of their organization and provides consistent, exceptional support to the chapter.
  • 2025: Ashley Welch, Alpha Phi

Stop Campus Hazing

Hazing is strictly prohibited. No individual should ever be subjected to, or take part in, any form of hazing. Such behavior is unacceptable and has no place in building positive relationships or a healthy community.
