As the spring semester winds down, I'd like to share a few updates on recent and ongoing efforts. Our team is focused on enhancing systems, strengthening support and introducing technology that meets the evolving needs of our campus community. Here's a look at what we've been working on and what's ahead:
Panopto to Replace Echo360 Starting Fall 2025
Earlier this spring, we invited faculty and staff to participate in a pilot of Panopto, an alternative to our current video platform, Echo360. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and we are planning for a campus-wide transition to Panopto by Fall 2025. Stay tuned for more details and updates in the coming months.
Updated Software Request Process for Classrooms, Labs & Shared Computing
To help faculty and staff better plan for upcoming semesters, ITS is introducing an updated process to improve software requests for classrooms, labs, and shared computing environments. A semester-based request schedule is now available to help ensure that your software is there when you need it.
Asset Verification Kicked Off in April -Help Us Reach 100%
Thank you to everyone who completed their computer asset verification last year in our new Technology Inventory Management System (TIMS)! We achieved an impressive 87% verification rate during our first year of using the system. This year's verification cycle began on April 1, and we're aiming for an even higher rate. Coordinators are encouraged to complete verifications by June 30 to support the computer lifecycle review process.
Enhancing Wireless in Trask Coliseum
We're excited to announce that a new initiative is underway to enhance the wireless coverage in Trask Coliseum. This upgrade, expected to be completed in the coming months, will provide a more seamless and reliable connection for everyone using the space!
Windows 11 Campus Rollout
With Microsoft ending support for Windows 10 on Oct. 14, 2025, the campus-wide move to Windows 11 is already in progress. Automated upgrades began in February and will continue through the summer. Note: Upgrades will pause during final exams to minimize disruptions.
Highlights from Tech Xperience 2025
We recently hosted the second annual Tech Xperience event, highlighting innovative technology initiatives from students, faculty and staff. This year's focus included AI use cases developed by students, trends in technology misuse, and new technology available on campus. Whether you missed it or simply want to revisit your favorite moments, you can read the highlights or watch the event recording.
