Updated Software Request Process for Classrooms, Labs & Shared Computing

To help faculty and staff better plan for upcoming semesters, ITS is introducing an updated process to improve software requests for classrooms, labs, and shared computing environments. A Semester-based request schedule is now available to help ensure that your software is there when you need it and is tested for compatibility with all supported configurations.

Key Dates for Software Requests*

To streamline the process and allow ample time for testing, we’ve set software request deadlines for each semester:

  • June 1: Deadline for Fall semester software requests
  • Nov. 1: Deadline for Spring semester software requests
  • March 1: Deadline for Summer semester software requests

Submit Early for Best Results

Submitting your requests early is the best way to ensure your software is ready when you need it. Early submissions make all the difference!

*Note: This schedule applies only to classrooms, labs, and shared computing environments. If you have a UNCW-owned device, you can request software at any time and will not be affected by this schedule.

Software Request Examples

Some examples of when you would submit a request:

  • New software install
  • Existing software install
  • A new version of already installed software
