UNCW is continuing to closely monitor weather conditions affecting southeastern North Carolina as Tropical Storm Debby weakens. Based on current information from the National Hurricane Center, conditions are expected to improve on Friday. Winds and rain will continue today and should diminish tonight around midnight. Isolated tornadoes and flash flooding are still possible through this afternoon.
At this time, the university plans to maintain its normal operating schedule. Should that change, the university will send an update. In the meantime, employees should familiarize themselves with the Adverse Weather Policy. Supervisors should review their unit’s emergency operation plans.
University emergency responders will continue working with New Hanover County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service Wilmington to assess the tropical weather system’s track and to provide the UNCW community with relevant information.
