UNCW's Criminal Justice Practicum provides students an opportunity to gain real experience in a variety of local criminal justice agencies.
CRM 490 (3 credits) & CRML 490 (1 Credit)
Course Description
The practicum is also designed to provide practical on-the-job experiences to supplement in-class experiences. Students will intern at a minimum of 10 hours a week with the selected criminal justice agency and will also meet 1 hour every week in a class room setting to discuss educational and professional development issues relevant to the internship.

Practicum Objectives
Expand and enrich student understanding of the criminal justice system;
- Acquire practical, real-world, experience in a criminal justice or criminology-related agency.
- Apply social science knowledge and theory towards understanding your real-world experiences.
- Begin to develop a professional identity as a criminology/criminal justice practitioner.
