Hiring Process for SHRA Positions

State and local government hiring supervisors must select the most qualified person from the entire pool of qualified applicants for the position. Human Resources will do an initial screen of applicants and send qualified applicants to the department for review. If requested, the hiring manager has the right to see all applicants.   • The hiring official may or may not employ the work of a search committee
  • SHRA positions close on a specific date and are reviewed by Human Resources for:
    • Minimum qualifications (if using a search committee)
    • More in-depth review of strengths based on the job ad (if not using a search committee)
  • Process typically includes phone interviews followed by campus interviews for selected candidates
