Employee Assistance Program

From financial pressures to workplace stress and family dealings, life can be challenging. If you need help, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available. The EAP is a confidential counseling and resource program designed to help UNCW employees and their families deal with both personal and work-related concerns. UNCW contracts with ComPsych to administer this program.

Who is eligible?

All permanent employees and their dependents are eligible. The benefit is also available to former employees for up to six months after leaving the University. The services of professionals trained to evaluate problems and identify appropriate remedies are available to you and your family members. The program is aimed at early detection and referral of personal problems.

When are the services available?

Trained counselors are available by phone 24 hours a days, 7 days a week.

How much does it cost?

The initial consultation on any topic is free, and some UNC institutions may provide additional free consultations based on their contracts. Subsequent consultations may be referred to another provider that may charge for services. Don’t let an issue stand in the way of reaching your family, personal, financial, and professional goals.

Is it confidential?

Any information discussed and evaluated will be held confidentially by ComPsych. Employees do not have to tell their supervisors that they are using EAP services. However, time spent with the EAP counselor can be considered work time if approved by an employee’s supervisor in advance. Otherwise, employees may use available approved leave.
