Yes, this program is 100% virtual.

No, you do need to be a UNCW student so the first step is to apply. If you have served in the military for at least two years you’ll apply to UNCW as a military-affiliated transfer student. If you have an associate’s degree, or have completed high school and enrolled in college courses, you will apply as a transfer student. If you have not yet completed college courses, you’ll apply as a first-year student.

Please note that books and supplies are additional expenses.
There are many options for this. Even those working full time can still complete an internship.
Once you have completed the initial WLD 315 course, you can take the courses in any order.
The only prerequisite is the initial WLD 315 course. No other courses have prerequisites.
Once you are accepted into the program, your advisor and program coordinator will assist you with determining your track and registering for courses.
The OAP student schedule includes two 7.5-week equivalency (7 calendar weeks) mini sessions in each semester. There are 6 sessions offered each academic year (including summer). Please refer to the Calendar of start dates for more information.
  • Fall 1 & 2: August – December 
  • Spring 1 & 2: January – May 
  • Summer 1 & 2: May – August
OAP Important dates and deadlines
Important Dates & Deadlines can be found HERE (Note: scroll down for the OAP-specific dates and deadlines). Be aware that the add/drop deadline and the bill-due date both occur within the first week of each session.
This program operates under “rolling admissions.” You may apply to start during any of the 6 sessions offered each academic year.
This program is designed to meet your needs. We operate on a carousel model, so you can hop on and hop off as needed until you complete the program.
Each course is set up in learning modules and each week a new module will begin. Each module may contain any of the following: overview, to-do list, learning outcomes, required readings, PowerPoint slides, written assignments, discussion forums, and quizzes/tests.

There is not a specific class time, but assignments will have specific due dates.
Expect 12-15 hours of work per course each week.
