Yes. Admission to UNCW and the Department of Music consists of a dual admission process:
You must be accepted by both the UNCW Office of Admissions and the Department of Music.
The Department of Music requests that you have two letters of recommendation from music teachers. These recommendations are in addition to the materials submitted to the Office of Admissions and are mailed to the Department of Music.
Students audition before a UNCW Department of Music faculty committee in the performance area(s) listed on the audition application as the primary instrument. Please bring two copies of each of your audition pieces.

Yes. You may audition on the instruments you list as primary and secondary instruments on your audition application. Once at UNCW, you may study both instruments. However, once approved in a principal performance area and/or degree program, another audition will be required to change the principal performance area, pursue multiple performance areas, or change from one degree program to another

At no charge to the student, voice students are provided an accompanist, although students may bring their own accompanist. In other areas, if students wish to have an accompanist, they are encouraged to bring their own.
Please let us know if you are bringing your own accompanist by emailing the Music Department at least two weeks prior to the audition. If need be, students in other areas may request a UNCW accompanist. Those requests must be made at least two weeks prior to the audition by emailing the department.
At the exit interview on the day of your audition. You will be told the results of your audition and placement tests. It's also a great time to ask questions about studying music at UNCW. The Department of Music will follow up with a letter listing the approved degree program and recommendations for Theory and (for majors) Class Piano.
We strongly encourage students to audition during one of the published dates in order for us to have ample time to get to know one another. Students may request an arranged audition by contacting the Department of Music as soon as possible if they are unable to attend any of the published dates.

On the DVD recording and disc container, clearly indicate your name, instrument or voice category, and the selections performed. This information can also be supplied in the comments area of the YouTube video.
Applicants submitting a video audition should mail it with the DVD disc by March 15. Mail the DVD to:

You will receive an automatic email confirmation. Shortly thereafter, a letter will be emailed to you and also sent to the address provided on your audition application.
If you would like to be considered, check the box on the audition application that asks if you would like to be considered for scholarships. Only students who audition in person before March 15.
