The Education Learning Community (ELC) provides first-year education majors a residential learning community that supports academic, social, and educational development.
ELC participants will have the opportunity to live with other pre-education majors in the residence hall, and share two of the same classes as a cohort in the Fall: EDN/L 200 Teacher, School, and Society & Field Studies and UNI 101 First-Year Seminar. Students will also choose from a curated selection of education, honors, or leadership courses for the Spring term.
In addition, students in the ELC will attend seminars together, connect with Watson faculty and staff, and engage with the WCE Student Success Center prior to being admitted into the Watson College of Education. Students will engage in various activities on and off campus exploring cultural diversity, educational growth, and establishing lifelong friendships. Many of the student leaders in our Watson Student Organization were in the ELC as they connected early with college resources.
*There is no additional cost associated with the Watson College of Education Learning Community beyond the standard room and board rates.
