In 2024, the Watson College paused the Razor Walker awards and established a committee to review the award’s processes and procedures. Following this review, a decision has been made to discontinue the Razor Walker awards.
The Razor Walker Awards were designed to recognize distinguished service to the children and youth of North Carolina.
For 30 years, the Watson College of Education honored individuals whose vision, tenacity, courage and sacrifice made a difference in the lives of young people in our state.
The honorees came from many different backgrounds and walks of life, from all areas of the state, and from a variety of different professions, but they all had one thing in common: an unwavering commitment to give North Carolina's children every opportunity to grow up strong and healthy, to receive a high-quality education, and to become our society's future leaders.
The Razor Walker Awards celebrated the efforts, achievements and contributions of people, who "walked the razor's edge" for the children and youth of North Carolina.
